Hace demasiado tiempo que no escribo en el blog. ¿Me habéis echado de menos?

La vida no siempre sale como la planeamos, y algunos cambios en la mía hicieron que no tuviera tiempo para dedicarle al blog. No he dejado de tejer, pero no os lo he ido enseñando ni he seguido con los tutoriales.

9 crochet skirts for summer

    It is summer and it is hot. At least here in Zaragoza, it is terribly hot... Maybe in your city is not, tell me about it. But if this is the case, it would seem to you that wearing yarn clothes is not the best option. I don't agree with that point of view, I think the point is choosing the right type of yarn.  If we use cotton, viscose, rayon, silk, or other synthetic cool fiber, we can knit or crochet nice and cool yarn summer clothes.

  

    Today I am going to show you some skirts you can crochet. You can use them like that at the beach or the swimming pool. Or we can put them over a piece of fabric in contrasting colour, giving a great finishing. The key point is choosing not a heavy yarn, so it will be confortable to wear the skirt. The ones I am showing you today are all crocheted, as crochet allow us to obtain really cool lace stitches.

9 faldas veraniegas de ganchillo

    Es verano y hace calor. A algun@s os puede parecer que no es la mejor época del año para llevar prendas de punto o de ganchillo. Yo creo que no es así, todo es cuestión de elegir el tipo de fibra adecuado. Si utilizamos algodón, viscosa, rayón, seda o algún tipo de fibra sintética fresquita, podemos tener prendas de verano muy bonitas y muy frescas.

  

    Hoy os voy a enseñar algunas faldas que podemos tejer. Podemos dejarlas tal cual y utilizarlas por ejemplo en la playa o en la piscina. O también podemos ponerlas encima de una falta de una tela fresquita que contraste en color y queda un resultado muy bonito. Lo esencial es elegir un tipo de fibra que no pese mucho para que nos resulto cómodo llevarla puesta. En este caso son todas de ganchillo porque nos permite tejer puntos calados que dan un resultado más suelto y fresco.

10 baby blanket

    Lately I am not showing you what I am knitting, but it is because it is a surprise and I don't want it to be seen by a particular person... The internet reaches the most unsuspected people...although this time they wouldn't be unsuspected, ha-ha.

    When the first woman of our friends group got pregnant, we decided to crochet a blanket for the new group component. We thought a granny square blanket would be a great idea, because we all can participate and it would be made by pieces from all of us. Finally only the women made it, it's a pity the men didn't participate. Different people crocheting the different pieces of a final blanket has its disadvantages, because each person crochet with a different tension. Although we all used the same yarn and hook size, the final pieces were not of exactly the same size. In this case it is very important to block the pieces, thing that we ignored... In the end we not only crocheted the blanket, but we also made some security blankets, a rattle, some baby shoes, a mobile... a complete layette for the baby.

10 mantitas para bebe

    Últimamente no os enseño lo que estoy tejiendo, pero es que es una sorpresa y no quiero que lo vea quien no lo tiene que ver... La red llega hasta las personas más insospechadas...aunque esta vez no sería insospechada, jeje.

    Cuando en nuestro grupo de amigos se quedó embarazada la primera de nosotras, decidimos hacerle entre todas una mantita a la nueva integrante del grupo. Pensamos que estaría bien hacer una manta de granny squares, que tejeríamos entre todas, y así tendría una manta hecha por todas. Y sólo por nosotras porque los chicos no se animaron a tejer, una pena. Aunque tejer una manta de este tipo entre varias personas tiene sus inconvenientes, ya que cada persona teje con una tensión diferente, y aunque todas utilizamos el mismo hilo y el mismo grosor de aguja, el resultado tenía ligeras variaciones en el tamaño. En estos casos es muy importante bloquear las piezas antes de montarlas, cosa que nosotras nos saltamos alegremente... Al final no sólo hicimos una mantita, si no que también le hicimos un sonajero, unos patucos, un móvil para la cuna, unas mantitas de apego.... Vamos, una canastilla entera de bienvenida.

Crochet bags for little girls

    Those of you that follow me on Facebook or on Instagram have already seen that I have been crocheting a pair of bags. My nieces had to attend a first communion and my sister-in-law was not able to find bags fitting their dresses and which they like. So she asked me to make them some nice bags to be really beautiful that day.

  

    After chosing between aaall the possibilities I found, I decided to make this first bag. 

   

Bolsos de ganchillo para niña

    Los que me seguis por Facebook o por Instagram habéis visto que he estado haciendo unos bolsos de ganchillo. Mis sobrinas tenían una comunión, y su madre no encontraba ningún bolso que le gustara para ellas y que hiciera juego con sus vestidos. Así que me pidió que les hiciera unos bolsos para ir bien guapas a la comunión.

    Tras elegir entre todas las opciones que encontré, me decidí por hacer este primer bolso que os enseño.

    Who has said that knitting and crocheting is grandma’s work? Of course our grandmothers were expert knitters. Many of them mastered both knitting and crocheting, and some even know embroidery, lace-making, tatting and other skills that made them obtain true artworks with limited resources.

Yarn Bombing, or dressing the city in wool

Some days ago I posted on Facebook the photos of a car and of some trees “attacked” by Yarn Bombing. Today I’m going to tell you a bit about this movement.

Also known as yarn storming, guerrilla knitting, urban knitting or graffiti knitting, is a street art that uses colourful knitted or crocheted creations in their displays. It is said that it came out from the necessity of finding a way out for all those unfinished projects and leftovers that all the crocheters and knitters have.

The process and the result are very funny, both for people making the yarn installations and for the people seeing the process of setting them into place. Those people sewing in the street, sometimes at ungodly hours (like when Teje la araña put the bollards in Madrid) are not crazy.

   Easter is coming. We can use these spare days for knitting and crocheting. Or we can knit or crochet Easter decoration.

   In some places in Spain, the tradition sets that the godfather gives the “mona” to his godson on Easter. Although it originally was a cake with boiled egg, symbolising the end of the fasting for Lent, today they have evolved. They are usually made of chocolate, from simple eggs to more elaborated figures.

   Se acerca la Semana Santa. Y podemos aprovechar estos días libres para tejer. O podemos tejer los adornos para Pascua.   

           

   En algunos lugares de España es tradición que el padrino le regale a su ahijado la mona de Pascua el Domingo de Resurrección. Aunque inicialmente la mona era una torta con huevo cocido, que simbolizaba el final del ayuno de la Cuaresma, hoy en día han evolucionado. Generalmente son de chocolate, teniendo desde sencillos huevos de chocolate, hasta las figuras más elaboradas.
